The Foundation educational grants encourage innovation, learning improvement and staff development in the North Thurston Public Schools. A committee of trustees and district representatives reviews the grant proposals. Since 1996, 56 classrooms have received the learning improvement grants. NTEF now gives up to seven grants. Grants are up to $1500 each. All projects are related to the Washington State essential academic learning requirements and focus on evidence of student learning. Recipients report on their study as part of the action research project required. Assistance and information on action research will be provided to recipients upon request by contacting Sue Shannon at 360 951-4365.Download Action Research ESD article as PDF document. Applicants must be individual educators or teams (including educational assistants) who choose to work together on a project for improving student learning. Successful applicants are expected to attend the annual membership meeting to be introduced and describe their project proposal. Also, they will be asked to report on the project outcome at the following annual meeting in January. To apply in the fall for this year's grants, download Lrng. Grant Appl 2009-10 as PDF document. |
